Eagl and Spendesk partner to connect procure-to-pay and the month-end close
Key takeaways
- Eagl and Spendesk have partnered to connect procure-to-pay with the month-end close.
- Most new accruals come from spend that has not reached the ERP yet: card payments, travel and supplier invoices waiting for approval.
- Eagl connects directly to Spendesk and the ERP, matches bills to open accruals by service period and runs the close.
- Both work with NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and Exact Online.
Spendesk and Eagl have partnered to connect procure-to-pay with the month-end close. Eagl reads spend in Spendesk alongside the ERP, so finance teams see what needs to be accrued before they close.
Spendesk handles purchase requests, corporate cards, expenses and invoices. Eagl does the accounting work that follows: it matches invoices and payments, prepares accruals, catches VAT errors and runs the close. Both work with NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and Exact Online.
Accruals start in spend
Every month, finance teams accrue costs that were delivered but not yet billed. At the multi-entity teams we work with, most of those accruals do not come from the ERP. They come from spend that has not reached it yet: card payments, travel and supplier invoices still waiting for approval.
That is where accruals get hard:
- Service period, not booking date. Many bills booked in October cover September or earlier. Whether a cost needs an accrual depends on the service period on the invoice.
- One bill, several months. A quarterly October to December invoice booked in November uses the October accrual. November and December are current and future costs.
- Data nobody has checked yet. Unreviewed expenses often carry the wrong category, VAT or service period, so the invoice itself is the source to trust.
- Currency. For a USD or GBP bill, the accrual is a euro estimate made at month-end. A small difference against the booked bill is usually just the exchange rate.
What Eagl does today
Eagl’s accruals module and Eagl Studio can:
- Read spend directly from Spendesk, including spend still waiting for approval
- Read booked invoices: service period, net and VAT amounts, and line items
- Split costs by days across periods and match credit memos
- Match each open accrual to its bill, and flag bills booked on a different account
- Review a full month of accruals in one go
- Check a batch of invoices for duplicates, VAT and period issues, and whether they are already booked, with the findings in one file
From the leadership
Most new accruals sit in spend that has not reached the ERP yet. Eagl reads what is already booked in your ERP and what is still waiting for approval in Spendesk. Combining those two layers of context tells us exactly what needs to be accrued, so finance teams can close faster.
